I love a chance to streatch the legs on my verbose vocabulary as much as the next man, but I haven’t written a poem since the 10th grade. Others, like Soulciety artist, and vocalist Amadeo, are energized to show you what kind of linguistic links they can connect with pointed, poetic parabels that south the soul and broaden the imagination. I guess hanging out with cats who know how to turn a phrase can be catchy? Oh, and take in to account that we were shooting in the “graff bombed” alley behind Casselman’s, so it was just about the most artistic thing I’ve done all year!
Also adding his inspiration and expertiese to the project was Eric Heights (@EricHeights) who, while always mellow, was super on point with his shots. Joe Joe (@Fredriquez) was in the mix doing some grip work, holding bounce boards and runnning foley takes. If you haven’t guessed by now, this was no ordinary music video. While there was a musical component, the focus of this shoot was a piece of poetry about the blessings of metaphysical gifts, and Amadeo delivered about 15 takes full of energy and compelling movement.
Coordinating with Eric is really becoming an easy process. I love to have my hands off of the camera to direct freely, and Eric is a true master with his rig. One of the best parts of the day was when Eric and Joe Joe collaborated on this beautiful field focus shift with the bounce card traveling! All-in-all, everyone had an amazing time, and I was really impressed with how quickly we were able to turn around some cinema quality work! Look for that video WHENEVER it drops, because it will be part of a promotional string of videos released by Soulciety later on this year… Hopefully.
