Poetry in Motion!

A test pic Eric took for the shoot.

I love a chance to streatch the legs on my verbose vocabulary as much as the next man, but I haven’t written a poem since the 10th grade. Others, like Soulciety artist, and vocalist Amadeo, are energized to show you what kind of linguistic links they can connect with pointed, poetic parabels that south the soul and broaden the imagination. I guess hanging out with cats who know how to turn a phrase can be catchy? Oh, and take in to account that we were shooting in the “graff bombed” alley behind Casselman’s, so it was just about the most artistic thing I’ve done all year!

Heights and Joe Joe, As it says the two of them bend the block in the location scouting process.

Also adding his inspiration and expertiese to the project was Eric Heights (@EricHeights) who, while always mellow, was super on point with his shots. Joe Joe (@Fredriquez) was in the mix doing some grip work, holding bounce boards and runnning foley takes. If you haven’t guessed by now, this was no ordinary music video. While there was a musical component, the focus of this shoot was a piece of poetry about the blessings of metaphysical gifts, and Amadeo delivered about 15 takes full of energy and compelling movement.

Don't know if she'll make the video but this mural by Gamma is sick!

Coordinating with Eric is really becoming an easy process. I love to have my hands off of the camera to direct freely, and Eric is a true master with his rig. One of the best parts of the day was when Eric and Joe Joe collaborated on this beautiful field focus shift with the bounce card traveling! All-in-all, everyone had an amazing time, and I was really impressed with how quickly we were able to turn around some cinema quality work! Look for that video WHENEVER it drops, because it will be part of a promotional string of videos released by Soulciety later on this year… Hopefully. :)

MOVIES! MOVIES! MOVIES!

It’s all sunshine and “California dreaming” over here at Optimum Films, Inc. in the last few weeks. We have been putting together a plan to get a foot hold into Hollywood! While having the good fortune to get out there a few times this past year, we have also made some pretty good contacts with actual Hollywood players. I don’t want to go to far into details that might throw a hex on the whole damn process, but the prospects are looking pretty good. Starting with this….

The Spine of our Biz plan

This is the Business Plan (Executive Summary) for one of the films we are currently pitching. A business plan is essential to EVERY pitch! And we have spent a year formulating the details that will amount to a successful project. The outside is a custom fit binder with license plates fixed to it. This is a car movie so we felt it couldn’t hurt to have the added style. Because this package will primarily be sent to investors, we wanted it to show case the color and texture of the film. So, we made 9 top secret, double-sided, glossy inserts that go inside of the package to explain the fundamentals of our project. Topping it all off we have included a DVD of the top secret trailer for the film! However, we will also have the ENTIRE business plan available in a STUNNING widget package that was custom built for us by Turf Global Mobile/ Turf Connect! They are some super bad web designers and if you call Tom “Atom Bomb” Veasley he will get you hooked up! You can find out more about Turf Connect Here: http://turfawards.com/

A look at Prototype binders

The other project we have been working and reworking has been our first feature length script. Recently we have been hipped to the script writing process and how to get in if you are a total unknown. Let me qualify this by saying that Sid and I both have had FOR PAY writing credits on nationally produced media, but we are still VERY MUCH unknown. After you get your script finished in the correct format – USING FINAL DRAFT- (nobody reads anything that wasn’t written on Final Draft), then you have to get someone who makes a lot of money as a screenplay writer to tell you if it’s worth a damn…

The process of sending your script to a professional script/screenplay writer for critique is called coverage. And the more you pay, the more you get. It was very reasonable though. We payed far less than we thought we would, but I’m not sure if I can disclose the amount. Think 3 figures. A great critique was done on our work by a guy named Michael Ferris. He wrote one of my all time favorite thrillers, the Game, with Michael Douglas. He also wrote Terminator(s) 3, and Salvation. He was positive, and left us feeling like we are gonna make a boatload on the script! He was also brutally honest, and we know there will be some deep cuts and partial re-writes ahead of us. After the rewrite using the ScreewritersU method, we will hopefully be ready to pitch… That is, if we don’t seek more coverage first.

Hope this has been informative!!!

Once we set a date, we pulled out the Canon 1D and headed to Red & Jerry’s for the MMA fights. Baby C, and Crystal Selena where naturals, after 15 minutes they had there performer faces on and were in the ring, belting out the words to their hit song. After a couple of hours of filming without the crowd, The girls came up during intermission to perform for the packed house of fans. Photobucket

We ran into Bumpy Chill that night, he was announcing the fights and looking sharp in his cream and brown suit. It was a good night of fights concluding with three girl fights where the one girl got smashed! shout out to the wash board abs! Thanks to the Boxing Commission and Keith from Rocky Mountain Bad Boys. Be on the look out for the video! “Winning Duh”
