It’s all sunshine and “California dreaming” over here at Optimum Films, Inc. in the last few weeks. We have been putting together a plan to get a foot hold into Hollywood! While having the good fortune to get out there a few times this past year, we have also made some pretty good contacts with actual Hollywood players. I don’t want to go to far into details that might throw a hex on the whole damn process, but the prospects are looking pretty good. Starting with this….

This is the Business Plan (Executive Summary) for one of the films we are currently pitching. A business plan is essential to EVERY pitch! And we have spent a year formulating the details that will amount to a successful project. The outside is a custom fit binder with license plates fixed to it. This is a car movie so we felt it couldn’t hurt to have the added style. Because this package will primarily be sent to investors, we wanted it to show case the color and texture of the film. So, we made 9 top secret, double-sided, glossy inserts that go inside of the package to explain the fundamentals of our project. Topping it all off we have included a DVD of the top secret trailer for the film! However, we will also have the ENTIRE business plan available in a STUNNING widget package that was custom built for us by Turf Global Mobile/ Turf Connect! They are some super bad web designers and if you call Tom “Atom Bomb” Veasley he will get you hooked up! You can find out more about Turf Connect Here: http://turfawards.com/

The other project we have been working and reworking has been our first feature length script. Recently we have been hipped to the script writing process and how to get in if you are a total unknown. Let me qualify this by saying that Sid and I both have had FOR PAY writing credits on nationally produced media, but we are still VERY MUCH unknown. After you get your script finished in the correct format – USING FINAL DRAFT- (nobody reads anything that wasn’t written on Final Draft), then you have to get someone who makes a lot of money as a screenplay writer to tell you if it’s worth a damn…
The process of sending your script to a professional script/screenplay writer for critique is called coverage. And the more you pay, the more you get. It was very reasonable though. We payed far less than we thought we would, but I’m not sure if I can disclose the amount. Think 3 figures. A great critique was done on our work by a guy named Michael Ferris. He wrote one of my all time favorite thrillers, the Game, with Michael Douglas. He also wrote Terminator(s) 3, and Salvation. He was positive, and left us feeling like we are gonna make a boatload on the script! He was also brutally honest, and we know there will be some deep cuts and partial re-writes ahead of us. After the rewrite using the ScreewritersU method, we will hopefully be ready to pitch… That is, if we don’t seek more coverage first.
Hope this has been informative!!!
